Jennie Bonsall Rites in Scotia

Jennie Bonsall was born June 15, 1889 at Dana, Illinois to John and Harriett Loren Burton and died July 6, 1990 at the Valley County Nursing Home at Ord, NE at the age of 101.

At the age of 3, Jennie moved with her family to Alliance, NE, and later moved to the Burton farm south of Scotia. Jennie had attended school at Scotia and graduated in 1907. She taught school for one year and worked summers at the Romine Cafe on Main Street in Scotia. She was married to Jesse L. Bonsall August 11, 1909. They farmed South of Scotia until Jess's death in Nov. 14, 1980.

Jennie was a member of the Scotia Methodist Church and had been a member of the choir for many years.

Survivors include a son Dean of Scotia; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister Ruby Longeval of Laguna Hills, CA; a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son Gene; three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday July 9, 1990 at 2:00 pm at the Scotia United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia.
