A native of Stewart County, Tenn., he was born May 3, 1915, son of the late Ellis and Eva Shemwell Hester.
He was a retired lumber inspector with R.C. Owen Lumber Co., a member of Trinity Baptist Church and National Rifle Association and a 25-year member of Moose Lodge No. 1929. A son, Brandon A. Hester, died in 1944.
Survivors include his wife, Maw B. Sherron Hester; two sons, Billy A. Hester, Madisonville, and Bobby R. Hester, Hopkinsville; three daughters. Betty Jean Hester, Hopkinsville, Barbara A Fritz, Atwater, Ohio, and Brenda F. Lowe, Clarksville, Tenn.; two brothers, Glenn Hester, Hopkinsville, and Floyd Hester, Evansville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
