Miss Emily Holsclaw, widow of William Holsclaw, died Friday at the home of her son-in-law Major John Briggs, on the interurban line just east of New Albany, where she made her home. Her death was due to injuries resulting from a fall a week ago in which her hip was fractured. On account of her advanced age there was no hope of her recovery from the first. Mrs. Holsclaw was 85 years of age, and had lived all of her life in this city. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Episcopal church for many years, and later united with the Advent Christian church. Her husband died many years ago and all of her children have preceded her to the grave save one daughter, Mrs. Laura Wilcox. The funeral services was held at the home of Maj. Briggs. The Rev. A. C. Adams, pastor of the Advent Christian church, officiated and the burial was in Fairview cemetery. - New Albany Public Press 16 Dec 1913
