CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Ovide Alleman, age 76, who passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at 1:35 a.m. at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Carl Benton, pastor of Living Glory Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Ovide was a native of Carencro and a resident of Lafayette. He never met a stranger. His charismatic demeanor and outgoing personality led him to people whose lives he changed forever.

A loving husband, caring father, faithful friend and entrepreneur, he was a hard worker. Whatever Ovide set his mind to, he accomplished. He began his career in the oilfield, working for Frank's Casing Crew for thirty-seven years before establishing Alleman's Water Well Drilling Company.

He was a member of Living Glory Church, where he helped for many years. Ovide was a man of faith and courage, serving as an evangelist, ministering in prisons and winning souls for Jesus. If you would ask him, he would tell you that his assignment on this earth was first, leading people to Christ. Ovide is now in heaven, his real home, celebrating with all of those he led there.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Alleman of Lafayette; one son, Brian Alleman of Rayne; three daughters, Lora Alleman Blankenship and her husband, Randy, of Mumford, AL, Kaysha Alleman Pemberton and her husband, Garlon, of Gulfport, MS and Annie Venable Alleman of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Casey Stephens, Colby Stephens, Chase Stephens, all of Mumford, AL, Trevor Alleman of Lafayette, Amber Harper of Brooklyn, NY and Hayden Pemberton of Gulfport, MS; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Viola Trahan of Carencro and Bernida Cormier of Breaux Bridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide Alleman and Arthemise Hayes Alleman; two brothers, Joseph Bennett Reed and Joseph Eugene Alleman; and two sisters, Annie LaPoint and Theresa Langlinais.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Brian Alleman, Trevor Alleman, Douglas "Joe Douglas" Badon, Casey Stephens, Colby Stephens and Chase Stephens.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana, the nurses and aids, and his doctors, Dr. Jeffery Thibodeaux and Dr. James Cole. To all family and friends who supported and helped the Alleman family in this journey, Thank You!
