BLOUNTVILLE - Alma Sue McFarland Barnes, 59, went to be with her Lord Saturday (Nov. 2, 2002) at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Sue was born May 9, 1943 in Appalachia, Va., a daughter of the late Gus and Mary (Galloway) McFarland. She was a member of the Indian Springs Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Olson McFarland.
Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years, Ellis R. Barnes of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ellis R. Barnes Jr. and wife Katrina; grandchildren, Hunter King, Ellis R. "Blake" Barnes III, Zachary King, Kira Barnes; sisters, Vadna (McFarland) Bush, Mollie (McFarland) Snodgrass; and a brother, Michael McFarland; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the East Lawn Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of a sister, Mollie Snodgrass, 466 Shadowtown Road, Blountville.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Aaron Rayburn officiating.
Family and friends will meet for a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Mack Carr Jr., Chad Rowlette, Ronnie Snodgrass, Ellis R. Barnes Jr., Eugene Rowlette and Ellis R. Barnes Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Barnes and Robert Barnes.
