Church record research and recent DNA tests have disproved the long held belief that this Andrew Dillman was the son of Andrew/Andreas Dillman (1705-1813).
Information about his parentage from the book "Genealogy of the Houser, Rhorer, Dillman, Hoover Families", 1910, by Dr. WW Houser, is undocumented.

Andrew was born in Pennsylvania to Baden, Germany immigrants HANS GEORGE DILLMAN & Margaretha Murr. The exact year of Andrew's birth is still being debated; some researchers have him listed as being born in 1751, others in 1753; a transcript of an inquiry about his military record lists him as being 65 years old in 1818, making his birth year 1753. Early Lutheran Church records list his birth as Dec 1753, and christened in January 1754.
He enlisted in the Continental Army March 13, 1778 and fought in our country's Revolutionary War. He was engaged in battles at Monmouth, Brandywine, Burgoyne, Germantown and Yorktown. After the war, he moved to Bourbon County, Kentucky (later that area became Bracken County) and raised a large family. He worked as a wagon maker and wheelwright and received a soldiers pension the last years of his life.
Buried in Sharon Cemetery, East, a rural Presyterian church cemetery in Chatham, Bracken County, Kentucky.
