Died Suddenly.
The community was much shocked Monday morning to learn that Horatio C. Bailey, who has been a resident of Bevier for more than a score of years, had been found dead in his bed about 7 o'clock in the morning. His death was probably due to heart failure.
Mr. Bailey was born in Indiana March 23 (sic), 1844, and was therefore more than 71 years of age. He came to Bevier from Chicago about 1895 and engaged in the occupation of painter in which he was vary skillful and which he followed to the day of his demise. Quiet in disposition and gentle of demeanor Mr. Bailey won many friends.
He was never married, but about five years ago when his sister became a widow, Mr. Bailey went to Chicago and brought her home with him to Bevier to become his housekeeper and has done all in his power for her welfare and happiness since then. It was a great shook to this good woman when she went to her brother's side to arouse him for breakfast to find him dead.
The funeral occurred from the family residence Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. D. B. Wilcox and was largely attended. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery. The bereaved sister has the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in her sorrow.
