Thomas Jefferson Bailey, son of Lewis Bailey and Mary (Barnard) Bailey (who were buried in Aurora. Thomas was a cabinetmaker at Aurora for many years. He was born Mar. 14, 1804 at Haverhill, MA. Thomas J. Bailey was still living Mar. 19, 1889 when he applied for a pension for the Civil War service for his son, James Heuston Bailey (1842-1864) who died at Andersonville Prison. (Parents could apply for a pension if they could convince the pension department their dead son was their major source of support - which was probably not the case for Thomas and his wife). His pension was never approved - either it was rejected or he may have died before it was approved. Either way he died between 1889 and when the 1900 census was taken.
