Cedric Davis, 25 years of age, was instantly killed about noon Saturday by a fall of slate in the Davis coal mine near Marysville five miles northwest of here. Davis was alone in the room where he was working when several tons of slate fell. His uncle, John Davis, who had been working in the next room assisted in recovering the body.

The body was taken to the Zimmerman funeral home and prepared for burial.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, son David and daughter Romona; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Davis; brother George Davis; and three sisters, Miss Iva Davis, Mrs Virgie Figgins and Mrs. Eluice Simms, all of Marysville.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Marysville, conducted by the Rev. Judson Perkins of Attica. Burial was made in the Marysville cemetery
