Edith Velmina Berg was born to Carl A. and Emma (Knutson) Larson at her farm home in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on April 9, 1913. She was baptized at Spring Creek Lutheran Church of rural Clarkfield and confirmed on March 6, 1928, at Israel Lutheran Church, rural Clarkfield. She attended District 29 Country School, in Tyro Township.

Edith married Arne F. Berg on March 8, 1932, on the Larson family farm. She was a homemaker her whole life. She enjoyed cooking, making scrapbooks, gardening, quilting, and playing cards. She was the church organist at Israel Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Clarkfield Meal Site.

Edith passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the age of 93 years, 3 months, and 6 days.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis (Oscar) Waller, and two sons Arden (Violet) Berg and Dale (Marlene) Berg. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy (Merle) Nikolaisen; sisters-in-law: Amy Larson, Grace Larson, Charlotte Larson; daughter-in-law Sonya Pitt; 15 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arne in 1987; son Earl in 1998; six sisters: Ellen Hanson, Esther Kompelien, Grace Anderson, Ruth Nelson, Ruby Gordon, and Gladys Soppeland; and four brothers: Emil, Velmin, Lloyd, and Olaf.
