BEVIER MAN FOUND INJURED
August Amedi in Critical Condition; Cause of Injury is Still a Mystery.
August Amedi, 48, resident of the No. 8 district, near Bevier, who was lying unconscious in the middle of the road south of Bevier near "No. 8" about midnight last night, remains unconscious and in a critical condition in the Samaritan hospital today.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the case which still remains a mystery, Captain Shaw, of Troop B headquarters, stated today.
Amdei was found to have about a four-inch cut on his head and his clothing was torn, Captain Shaw said. He was brought to the Samaritan Hospital by Ordell Green, of Callao.
Amdei, who is employed in the Greenwood Mine (Mine No. 69) operated by Russell Jones, was said to have been going to Moberly when he left home Saturday evening.

Amidei Funeral Rites at Bevier Tomorrow
Funeral services for August Amidei, 48, of near Bevier, who died in the Samaritan Hospital yesterday, will be held at 9:30 o'clock tomorrow morning at the Sacred Heart Church in Bevier conducted by the Rev. Father P. J. Gilfillan. Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery under the direction of the H. G. Edwards Funeral home. Mr. Amidei was born at Fiumalbo, Italy, July 11, 1895, and came to Bevier from Novinger in 1922. He is survived by his father, mother, four sisters and one brother, all of whom still live in Italy, and four children of the home, namely, Kathryn, 18.. Mary L., 16; Waldo, 14, and Tena, 10.

Continue to Investigate Death of August Amidei
Investigation of the death of August Amidei continues today following a coroner's inquest held yesterday at which an open verdict was rendered by the jury. Amidei was found lying unconscious in the middle of the road near No. 8, South of Bevier, about midnight Sunday night. He was brought to the Samaritan Hospital where he received treatment for a severe head wound. No explanation of the injury could be obtained from him since he died in the hospital yesterday morning without ever having regained consciousness.
