Opal Hayes, 78, of New Caney, Texas and formerly of Galena Park, Texas, went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2012. She was born September 24, 1933 to the late William and Ruth Pruitt Bradshaw. She is also preceded in death by her husband William Hayes and daughter Pamela Hayes. Opal and William were married on January 1, 1955 and had three wonderful caring children. She is survived by her sons William David Hayes and Don Edward Hayes; Don's wife Rowena and sons Aaron and wife Claire, and Adam; Pamela's son Shawn; sister Dorothy Bates; and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Opal accepted Christ and was baptized at the 2nd Baptist Church in Galena Park in 1966. She retired from George B. Allen in the late 70's as a secretary. Some of her favorite hobbies were reading, cross stitch, sewing, gardening and cooking. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the Chapel at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 P.M. in Nat Cemetery, Nat, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, April 13, 2012 at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Opal's grandsons, Aaron, Adam and Shawn Hayes; and her three great nephews, Lee Weaver, Scott Weaver and Ryan Weeks.
For those desiring, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
