Funeral Here Tuesday
For Former Citizen

Latham L. Davis, 52-year-old former Hopkinsville business man and civic leader, died at his home in Gainesville, Fla.. Saturday following a heart attack.

Mr. Davis, was was born and reared in Hopkinsville, and was the son of Lucien H. Davis and Nora Dalton Davis. He was educated here and in 1920 was married to Miss Martha Gary of this city. Mr. Davis was a direct decendent of two of Christian County's old families that included the founders and builders of the community. Among them were the owners of the Davis and Dalton Brothers stone and brick businesses.

The deceased was known as one of Hopkinsville's youngest and most enterprising business men. He was connected with the automobile business. While living here Mr. Davis was dealer for Buick cars, and also a partner in the Davis-Dalton Chevrolet Co. He took an active interest in civic affairs. He was known for his energy and genial nature, and his widespread contacts in both business and social circles contributed to his successful career.

Mr. Davis left Hopkinsville in 1928 for Charlotte, N. C., where he had been appointed assistant state distributing agent for the Chevrolet division of General Motors. For the past several years he has lived in Gainesville, where he was president of the firm representing Chevrolet. His son,
Latham Jr., is vice-president of the company. As in Hopkinsville, Mr. Davis was actively associated with civic interests in Gainesville. where he was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are his mother. Mrs. Lucien H. Davis, South Virginia Street; his wife, Martha Gary Davis; his son, and two granddaughters of Gainesville. Close relatives in this vicinity are Mrs. Margaret Dalton Haydon, Mrs. Sarah Dalton Todd, Edward DalIton, Mrs. Betsy Covington Wilson of Gracey. Wesley Dalton of Townson, Md., also Is a relative.

Funeral services will be conducted at Keightley Funeral Horne here Tuesday morning at 9:30 with Dr. William Peyton Thurman, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
