Feb 1840 William and Martha married 10 May 1840 Daughter Eliza Baptised 6 June 1841 The 1841 census showed William, Martha and Eliza living at Hollow Bottom (Plaistow area near Plaistow Lane and Nicol Lane) he was an Agricultural Labourer at the time. His Father lived next door. 30 March 1851 William is shown on the census as living in Plaistow ( no street / number) He was an agricultural labourer at the time. In 1851 Plaistow was a Hamlet half a mile north of Bromley, and was combined with Farwig as a separate parish in 1864 5 March 1877 William married Fanny Crouch who was aged 28, at the Parish Church in Clapham, Surrey. He was then living in Thurlow St, Clapham, and was a Gardener. He gives his age as 58 but from his birth date he was 62. His witness's were Albert Osborn (his son by his first wife Martha ??) and Amy Crouch 5 April 1891 William is shown on the 1891Census as being aged 75, a pensioned labourer living at 27 Plaistow Lane. He had re-married (assumed Martha died) and his wife is shown as Fanny Osborn nee Crouch, she was born abt 1849, ie 42 in 1891, with a child Thomas born 22 February 1880, ie age 11 in 1891. Thomas is a child of the second marriage. 12 June 1899 Living at 27 Plaistow Lane, when Fanny died, Thomas was present at death. 23 June 1904 From Bromley Union Workhouse Farnborough Records William Osborn, Gardener, C of E, aged 89 admitted by order of R O Jones to Infirmary at 4:00 pm on 23 July 1904. Nearest relative son, Thomas Osborn, 38 Plaistow Lane, Bromley. He died at 9:40 pm on Tuesday 2nd August 1904. 2 August 1904 William died in the Bromley Union Workhouse, Farnborough R.D.C , and is buried in Plaistow cemetery in a common grave no H13, he was 89, his second wife is also buried here, she died 15 June 1899 age 50. On the death certificate William is shown as living or lived at 36 Plaistow Lane, Bromley and as being a domestic gardener. Cause of death is shown as old age and exhaustion. Picture {See the picture of William} A portrait of William was purported to have been painted by the daughter of Scott family who owned Sundridge Park Mansion and showed William outside his cottage (one of the cottages next to the Crown in Plastow Lane) A copy was given to me by Doris, the original photo hung in her grandfathers house (George Edward) at 32 Foxbury Road, and was identified on the back as W Osborn grandfather.
