William ADAMS was born 2 Jan 1909, in rural Curryville to Heber LeRoy and Nancy Cleveland ADAMS.
He married to Nelle McDOWELL on 1 June 1946, in Vandalia, She survives.
Other survivors include one son, William Terry ADAMS of St Charles; one brother, Malcolm C. ADAMS of St Charles; two sisters, Alberta ELLIOTT of Escondido, Calif., and Frances Ruth BRANSTETTER of Twin Falls, Idaho; and one granddaughter, Abigail ADAMS of St Charles.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles G. ADAMS and Heber L. ADAMS.
Mr. ADAMS was a resident of Pike County and Vandalia for a number of years in his early adult life before moving to Overland. He was a 1927 graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia from 1928 to 1931. He was a distributor for the West Bend Company of West Bend, Wis., for almost 25 years.
Mr. ADAMS served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, on the USS Richey, USS Grand Rapids and several other Couast Guard cutters. He was a Baptist by faith and member to the American Legion Thomas-Booth Post 338 of Overland. He enjoyed bowling and playing Keno.
