Doris M. Snyder

YORK Doris M. Snyder, 86, formerly of Dallastown, went home to be with her Lord from her residence on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. She was the wife of Bruce E. Snyder, who passed away August 5, 2000. Born September 24, 1925 in Dallastown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie Mabel (Hoffman) Riedel. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Snyder will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Rev. Lawrence Cunnings officiating. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, and again on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Snyder is survived by three children: Dennis "Jerry" Snyder and his wife Kitty of Dallastown, Karen Shellenberger and her husband Tom of Red Lion, Linda Viscount and her husband Ken of York; four grandchildren: Scott, Elizabeth, Abby and Ray; two step grandchildren: Tracy and Jason; five great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and a neice, Carol (Riedel) Norman of Florida. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother: Rev. Gerald H. Riedel. Mrs. Snyder was a lifetime active member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was very involved in many church activity groups including being a Sunday school teacher. She was a graduate of Dallastown High School Class of 1943. During World War II, she worked for the York Corporation prior to becoming a seamstress for Standard Garment Company and Dallastown Manufacturing. She retired from J.L.M. Corporation (the former Red Lion Manufacturing). Mrs. Snyder was an avid bowler for many years and a member of the Dallastown Golden Agers. Mrs. Snyder's family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313.
