Ellis -- Andrew A. Scheck, 73, died Sunday, Feb. 3, at Hadley Regional Medical Center, Hays. He was born May 29, 1911 in Walker to Andrew A. and Barbara (VonFeldt) Scheck.


He married Thresia Augustine on June 12, 1934 in Victoria.


He lived in the Ellis community for 50 years, was a retired Union Pacific railroader and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis.


Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Donald, New Castle, Wyo., and Lee Roy, Ellis; four daughters, Norma Brack, Shirly Gerhardt, Barbara Kinderknecht and Edna Scheck, all of Ellis; two brothers, Severin, Walker, and Julius, Great Bend; five sisters, Regina Miller and Amelia Lang, both of Hays, Evelyn Scheck, Great Bend, Helen Woodward, Wichita, and Mary Ann Elliott, Teague, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.


Funeral service were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Father Paulinus Karlin officiated; burial was in St. Mary Cemetery.
