Sister Edith (Pierre) Brotz,83,died at St.Agnes Hospital. She was the daughter of Casper and Christine Felzman Brotz.
Sister made her profession in the Congregation of St.Agnes in Fond du Lac,15th August,1927.
She earned her bachelor and master of arts degrees in mathematics and classical languages from Loyola University in Chicago.Sister earned her degree of doctor of philosophy in systematic theology from St. Mary's College,Notre Dame, in South Bend,Ind.
Sister Edith taught elementary grades in Assinins,Mich;Marytown,WI.,Decatur,Ind.,Oshkosh,WI and Evanston,Ill. she also taught mathematics at Immaculate Conception High School.Elmhurst,Ill.
Sister Edith was on the faculty of Marian College, teaching mathematics and Latin from 1942 throught 1952. Following her years of study at St.Mary's, Notre Dame, she returned to Marian College in 1956 and taught theology. She was named assistant academic dean in 1960 and became academic dean at Marion in 1961. She served in that capacity until 1970.
In 1970,she spent one year as director of religious education at St.Mary's Church,College Station,Texas as a member of the campus ministry staff at the Catholic Student Center at Texas A&M University. She returned to Marian College in 1971 to serve as professor of theology and philosophy department. After resigning from her position at Narian in 1977,Sister served as chaplin at St.Thomas More Newman Center at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for two years. She served as director of the pastoral care department at St.Clare Hospital from 1979 throught 1984. After returning to Fond du Lac, Sister Edith did volunteer work in the pastoral care department at St.Agnes Hospital and in the archives at Marian College. She was still active as archivist at Marian College at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
In August,1977, Sister Edith celebrated her 50th anniversary as a woman religious with a mass at St.Peter Claver Parish in Sheboygan, her home church.
