Ronnie Herring, age 64, passed away Monday April 9, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Andy Graham of Southside Baptist Church of Olney, officiating. Burial will follow in the Newcastle Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Ronnie was born April 2, 1948 in Graham, Texas to the late Almoth Sylvester and Mabel (Thompson) Herring. He was married to Janice Herring. She passed away in 1991. Ronnie had been in farming and ranching most of his life. On December 3, 2011 he and Sharilyn McCoy were married in Olney, Texas. Ronnie was a lifetime resident of Young County and was a member of the Cowboy Church of Southside Baptist in Olney. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ledford Herring and Don Herring; a sister Nelda Anderson; and a great grandchild Caleb Leatherwood.
Survivors include his wife, Sharilyn Sue McCoy Herring of Newcastle, Texas; son Doy Lee Leatherwood, Jr. of Bryson, Texas; daughters: Sheila Reddell of Burleson, Texas, and Kristi Taylor of Ovid, Michigan; a brother Charles Herring of Graham, Texas; five sisters: Wonnie Mills of Monahans, Texas, Mary Lou Kinser of Newcastle, Texas, Jolene McMillan of Stephenville, Texas, Holly Jean Posey of Newcastle, Texas, and Earlene Routon of Newcastle, Texas; also nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
