Holly Jean Posey, 88, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, in Wichita Falls. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 7 at 11:00 A.M. at the McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Newcastle Cemetery.
Holly was born December 25, 1933, in Weatherford, Texas to the late Almoth Sylvester Herring and Mabel Thompson Herring. Holly was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. She served on the Newcastle City Council for many years, and she previously owned the Bobcat café where served many plates of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and gravy.
She is survived by her sister Thelma Earlene Routon and husband David, brother Charles Allen Herring, 4 grandchildren: Steven Edward Routon, Brian Lacy Routon, Mitchell Ryan Routon, and Cassie Kay Biggs. 4 great grandchildren: Dalton Lacy Routon, Kaylee Biggs, Kaleb Biggs, and Karter Biggs, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husbands Horace Morrow and Arthur Posey, by a son, Walter Seddon Mayes, by a daughter, Jean Renee Routon, and seven siblings – Ledford Herring, Owana Mills, Mary Lou Kinser, Jolene McMillan, Nelda Anderson, Donald Lee Herring, and Ronnie Herring.
