Anna Birkenbine, was schoolteacher
Anna K. Birkenbine, 86, a former schoolteacher in Brickerville, died Thursday morning at Masonic Homes in ELizabethtown, where she had resided since December. Death came after a brief illness.

Formerly of West End Avenue in Lititz, she was the wife of Jacob H. Birkenbine, who died in 1982.

Mrs. Birkenbine graduated in 1921 from the former Rothsville High School and attended Elizabethtown College. She taught in a one-room school in Brickerville for 10 years before her marriage.

She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lititz.

Born in Farmersville, she was the daughter of the late Elam E. and Minnie Butzer Koch. Surviving are three sisters, Vera K. Keener and Margaret B. Koch, both of Lititz, and Minerva B. Martin of Leola; and three brothers, Harold B. Koch of Lancaster, and Melvin B. Koch and Robert B. Koch, both of Lititz.
