LANCASTER -- Mr. Brannon, 62, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Lancaster, SC, passed away May 16, 2005 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Brannon, Sr. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Maurica A. 'Reci' Brannon and his mother, Ival Hendrix Brannon of Easley, SC. He is also survived by two children, a daughter Resa Wirick and her husband Ed of Chesapeake; his son, James T. Brannon, III, of Virginia Beach; his brother, T. Dale Brannon and his wife Sandi of Anderson, SC, and four grandchildren Reece, Emily, Matthew and Ellie.
Mr. Brannon was born in Lancaster, SC. He was a graduate of Wofford College in South Carolina and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway as a General Manager of Distribution Services. Jim had many passions in life which included playing college football, long distance running, in which he completed four Marine Corp marathons, and the love of golf. After retirement, he earned his Emergency Medical Technician certificate and volunteered on the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, Station #14 where he was honored with 'Rookie of the Year'. He continued his dedication to volunteer work at the Virginia Beach General Hospital Emergency Room.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel by Dr. Dwight O. Christenbury and the Reverend James F. Patterson of Greenwood, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, Station #14 on 17th Street in Virginia Beach.
