GRANDMA MILLER Sarah Hanes (Haines) was born in Beaver County, Pa., Dec. 22, 1811 died Sept. 14, 1904 aged 92 years, 8 months and 22 days. In youth she united with Protestant Methodist Church. She was united in marriage to John Miller, Sept. 1, 1831. This union was blessed with 5 sons and 4 daughters. In December 1841 they moved from Pennsylvania to Salem township, Meigs county, where they bought a home and she has lived there ever since except the last two or three years she spent with her children. Her husband died Oct. 14, 1887. Four sons and 2 daughters survive her namely: James, of Kyger, J. W. of Langsville, Isaac, of Alberta, Mrs. Margaret Calhoun, of Wheelersburg, W. B. of Laclede W.Va., and Elizabeth Dille of Union Ridge W. Va., all except Mrs. Dille were present at Wesley Chapel Sept. 16, at 10:30 A. M. conducted by Rev. Kilpatrick of Rutland and burial in the Rutherford cemetery. She was the oldest child of a family of 15 children of which only 2 brothers surviver her S. S. Hanes of Potwin Kansas and Abraham Hanes of Webster O. Six children, 37 grandchildren 47 great grandchildren and a host of friends are left to mourn their loss. This was copied word for word from a newspaper obituary, without correcting any spelling or punctuation. Also note that the Wright Cemetery was once called the Rutherford Cemetery. Her obituary says that they came to Ohio in 1841, but it was actually 1842.
