S. Beth Newsom, 58, of Libertyville, died May 8 at Lake Forest Hospital.
She was born April 7, 1918, in Libertyville and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was also past matron of O. E. S., Libertyville Chapter No. 438, and a member of the Emanuel White Shrine No. 50 in Lake Forest. She was a contract negotiator for the U. S. Navy at Great Lakes until her retirement in 1974 after 32 years.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Eleanor Purdy; a brother-in-law, Carl H. Purdy of Libertyville; a niece, Nancy Purdy of Libertyville; a nephew, James C. Purdy of Wheeling and a dear friend, Frances Zook of Iowa.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Burnett Funeral Home in Libertyville. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery, Libertyville.
