Mrs. Nina (Lida) Newsom, 84, of 212 W. Cook Ave. died Monday morning in Condell Memorial Hospital after an illness of one week.
She belonged to the First Methodist Church of Libertyville for 76 years, longer than any other member.
Born Oct. 7, 1878, in Libertyville, she had lived here all her life.
Mrs. Newsom was a member of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the church and a 50-year member of the Libertyville Chapter 438, Order of the Eastern Star.
She also belonged to the Emmanuel Chapter 50, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; the Libertyville Woman’s Club; and the Condell Hospital Auxiliary.
Her husband, O. A. Newsom, preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Purdy and Beth, both of Libertyville; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
