SAMUEL McGEHEE, JR. was the son of Revolutionary War Lieutenant Samuel McGehee, Sr. (b. Jun. 23, 1759 d. May 7, 1821) and Olivia Muse McGehee (b. 1760 d. May 5, 1850).

Samuel MCGEHEE on 8th July 1864 in order to make an equitable distribution of his property among his children and grandchildren said propositions and terms accepted by one Mary Ann Cain wife of Andrew Cain and one Lucretia A. Day both of Amite County. Said Lucretia A. Day has since departed this life leaving her three children all of whom are infants under twelve years, one by the name of Robert H. Day age eleven, the other by the name of Van Day of the age of eight years and one by the name of Maxwell (or Marshall) Day of the age of six years, Col. Samuel B. Day is legal guardian. Filed 1866.
