Roy Lee Young
Roy Lee Young, age 81, of Ridgeway Drive, Stanford, died October 3 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born October 21, 1921 to the late Delmer Lawrence Young and Victoria Miracle Young.
He was the owner of Youngs Body Shop for 40 years, a member of the Harris Memorial United Methodist Church, veteran of World War II, Decorated Veteran, member of Travel Airs Quartet and the American Legion.
He was survived by his wife, Norma Young, of Stanford; two daughters, Brenda Carole Young of Lancaster, and Stefanie Young Brown (Dan) of Somerset; one brother, Don Young (Drucilla) of Highland; one sister, Winona Herrington of Crab Orchard; four grandchildren, Kelce Penman, Clinton Anderson and Parker Anderson, all of Lancaster, and Alex Brown of Somerset; and five great grandchildren, Jansen, Keegan and Haigin Penman, Emalee Young and Makayla Anderson.
Services were held Tuesday, October 7 at the Harris Memorial United Methodist Church with Bro. Jerry Beck and Dr. Harold Brown officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Young, John Holtzclaw, E.G. Brock, Cecil Witt, Jim Reed and Ronnie Gilbert.
Honorary pallbearers were Hubert Deatherage and Jack Withrow. Military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.
Spurlin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
