BOOK---Tidds of Ohio by Howard H Tidd; Pg-123 Lists James Watson Tidd (15 Aug 1896-xx), he married LenaP Doolittle of Kent in 1920. He graduated from Kent State Univeristy (BS) & later Ohio State University (MA degree). He was a high school teacher & principal for many years. He served in WW1 [719 Co-Motor Transport Corp]; had 2 children.

JAMES W TIDD: 97, Boardman High School Principal for 36 years before his retirement in 1960, died this morning in Beeghley Oaks after a long illness. MrTidd was born 15 Aug 1896 in Williamsfield, Ashtabula Cnty, a son of Harmon & Jessie Colby Tidd. He was a graduate of Williamsfield High School & Kent State University & received a master's degree from Ohio State University. At Kent State, MrTidd was a letter winner in baseball, tennis & basketball. He also had worked in industry & for a while was a fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad. His first educational assignment was in 1920 at Irondale High School in Jefferson County where he was a teaching principal. In 1924 he joined the Boardman schools as high school principal. At the time the school enrolled 100 students. A retirement story in The Vindicator in 1960 described MrTidd as a "disciplinarian, not a militaristic sort, but a stern, quiet administrator." He was a member of the ChatterboxClub, BoardmanCivic Assoc, AmericanLegion, Nation & Ohio Retired Teachers Associations, PrincipalsAssoc of Mahoning County & AmericanAssoc of Retired Persons & was an honorary member of Boardman High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. He was a member & trustee of Boardman United Methodist Church, taught its men's Bible class & was a youth group adviser there. He was an inductee in the Boardman High School Hall of Fame & was an Army veteran of World Ward I. His first wife, the former Lena Doolittle, whom he married 29 Jan 1920, died 03 Mar 1964.

Besides his second wife, the former Dorothy Longwell, whom he married 13 Aug 1966, he leaves a son: James W-Willowick; a sister: MrsDorothy Tanner-Heward, Saskatchewan, Canada; 3 grandchildren & 3 gr-grandchildren. A son AllenC; 3 brothers: Howard, Raymond & Harland; 4 sisters: MrsThressa Bartlett, MrsMildred Johnson, MrsFlorence Hyde & MissAlice are deceased. Services will be Monday afternoon in the church.
