His father, William Hodges, married his mother, as his 2bd wife: "m. (2) 1719/20 March 2, Scituate, Mass., MARY CLAPP, dau. of Joseph & Abigail (Allen) Clapp, b. 1696/7 March 6, Scituate ; d. 1756 April 20, Woodstock, Conn., while visiting her daughter." (per p. 80 of below source.)
"Abijah4 Hodges lived in Taunton on the homestead of his father at the east corner of Tremont and Granite streets. His name occurs April 6, 1757, in the list of the 2nd Taunton train-band, and probably he served in the French and Indian War, although no record of such service has been found. In 1771 he was First Lieutenant of the same company, and in 1774 Adjutant-Major of the 3rd Bristol County regiment."
