OKLAHOMA CITY Edward Pete Wiist, 84, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at his residence.

Evening prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Smith and Kernke Chapel, 1401 N.W. 23rd. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at Our Ladys Cathedral, 32nd and Western. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wichita Falls.

Mr. Wiist was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Hurnville, Texas. He and his wife, Toni,were married for 56 years.

He was raised and attended schools in Henrietta, Texas. He was a retired carpenter. He had been a resident of Oklahoma City for 38 years. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help of Oklahoma City, and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1038 of Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Wustrack and Carolyn Keegan; a son, David; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
