NASHUA - Grace M. Bean, 89, of Nashua, passed away Thursday evening (Oct. 11, 2001) at the Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Nashua.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Nashua and for one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Grace M. Bean was born on Dec. 10, 1911, at Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1929 and received her bachelor of science degree from Wartburg College in 1964. She taught rural schools in the Nashua area, then served as an elementary teacher for Nashua Community Schools from 1955 until her retirement in 1977.
She was united in marriage to Bertie D. Bean on July 4, 1931, at a Lutheran church in Waverly.
She is survived by her children, Zaneta (LaVerne) Walters of Osage, Wilma Benttine of Mason City, David Bean of Waverly, Marilyn (Bob) Sherman of Swisher and Steven (Ester) Bean of Greenwood, Del.; one brother, Harry Greene of Charles City; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Bertie D. Bean, on Sept. 2, 1994; her parents; two brothers, the Rev. Elmer Greene and a one who died in infancy; and a sister, Myrtle Isley.
