David Frank Bean, 65, passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 13, 2008 due to complications of diabetes. David was born in his family's home near Marble Rock, on June 25, 1942, the first son of Bertie and Grace (Greene) Bean. He grew up in Nashua, graduating as president of his class from Nashua High School in 1960 where he excelled in football and baseball. David graduated from Wartburg College in 1974 with a degree in psychology, the second of three generations of Wartburg graduates (mother Grace in 1964 and son Jay in 1984). He began working at Bremwood Lutheran Children's Home in Waverly while still attending Wartburg and continued counseling children there until his retirement in 1995. David spent the past year enjoying the weather and time with his sons in Orlando, Florida.

David is survived by his children: Jay of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Roderick of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Angela, her husband Jeremy Marchant and their children Dustin, Amanda and Brittany of Mason City, L.D., and his wife Julie and their son M.J. of Oxford, Ga., Joseph of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Davis, his wife Kelly, and their daughters Caitlynne, Taylor and Allison of Tucson, Ariz. David is also survived by his sisters, Zaneta Walters of Osage, Wilma Benttine of Mason City and Marilyn (Bob) Sherman of Swisher; and his brother, Steven (Ester) of Greenwood, Del. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Bertie Bean; as well as his brother-in-law, LaVerne Walters.

A Memorial service will take place April 7 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Nashua.
