Sarah Sarilla Kearns, sixth in a family of 12 children born to Thos. J. and Elizabeth Dunlap Kearns, entered this life February 3, 1868, on the home farm, 5 miles south of Central City, and died Mon., March 17, 1919, at her home in Central City. With the exception of 5 years spent in Ok, Linn co.was her home throughout her life. When a girl she attended the Springville schools and for one year taught school in the Gillian school. April 25, 1889, Miss Kearns was united in marriage to J. Arthur Wilson of Coggon, Ia, where the couple began housekeeping. Three children were born to them: Thomas J., Julia E., and Mary A., of whom one Julia, passed away twenty-one years ago.About seven weeks ago Mrs. Wilson was stricken with influenza, which left her in such a weak condition she could not overcome the complications that followed. She went peacefully to sleep Monday afternoon, March 17, and never awakened.
