Colleen Iris Covey East, 82, of Pulaski, was taken home by the Lord early Saturday morning, March 31, 2012 at her residence.

She was born Oct. 27, 1929 in Pulaski, and was the daughter of the late Sena Rumley Covey and Jesse Covey. Colleen was known to many in the area as a pleasant and smiling face to all who visited the Hensel Eckman Y.M.C.A.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James V. Covey; sister, Louise Covey Price, and a twin sister, Pauline (Polly) Furr.

She is survived by a loving husband, Warren J. East, and nieces and nephews, Jo Ann Mooney, Sandra Stowers, Randy Covey, Johnny Covey and Sharon Browning.

Colleen would like to give special thanks to everyone who came to visit her during her illness. She would like to give special thanks to her special buddies that have been by her side, Sherman and Carolyn Buckner, Louise, Janice, Frank and Judy, and to her special nieces and their husbands, Sandy and Al Stowers of Mt. Airy, N.C., Jo Ann and Ronnie Mooney of Fincastle. She would like to give special appreciation to Ronnie Mooney for coming to her rescue in her time of need. She would like to publicly announce her special love for her precious husband, her niece in Richmond, Calif., Jennifer Looney, and all special nieces and nephews. Finally she did not want to forget to announce her appreciation to her special neighbor, Thelma Bailey and to Mt. Valley Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, at 2 p.m., at Seagle Funeral Home. Interment followed at Highland Memory Gardens. The family received friends Sunday at the funeral home.
