She married Johann Schilling November 21, 1895, and in spring of 1898 they immigrated to the United States.
They lived with Joe and Christina (Schilling) Gab near Eureka, South Dakota before homesteading northwest of Zeeland, North Dakota. In the fall of 1903, they sold that farm and bought another nine miles north and two miles west of Bowdle, South Dakota, which was closer to other family members who had settled there.
After retiring from farming in 1927, they moved to Hosmer, South Dakota, and their eldest son, Jacob, took over the farm.
