"John was a member of the Regulators with a warrant being issued for him. Officers traced him from Hillsboro to Salisbury, where he and a Mr. Mills, were arrested and compelled to take the oath of allegiance. John then moved on to settle between Rocky River and Richardson Creek in now Union Co., N.C.
