William Hepry Rhoades, son of Susan and Daniel Rhoades, was born October 17, 1867 in Indiana, and passed away at his home in Albia on August 11, 1944. He came to Monroe county as a child and spent his entire life within the county. On June 26, 1889, he was united in marriage to Anna Elizabeth Smith and to this union 8 children were born. His parents, 8 brothers and sisters, and one grandson, Cpl. Billy Rhoades, who was killed in action on the Taharan Sea, have preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; 8 children; George E. of Ottumwa; Harlie R. of Des Moines; Frank H of Tuscon, Az; Marshall E. and Edwin D. of Albia; Mary I. Hart of Grimes; William S. of the U.S. Army Air Corps of Ypsilanti, Mich; and Maxine Kersbergen of Grimes. There is also one brother, Elmer of Davenport, and 7 grandchildren. Mr. Rhoades has lived in Albia for many years. He was a good father and neighbor, and is mourned not only by those of his immediate family but by a host of other relatives and friends.
