Mrs. Bettie B. Pierce, age 53 years, died Saturday, October 26th, in a Louisville hospital. Mrs. Pierce had been ill only a few days and had been taken to the hospital Friday afternoon for an examination on Saturday. She died early Saturday morning before an examination was made. The deceased was married to Mr. Robert Pierce, thirty-nine years ago who survives with the following children: Mrs. Nellie Raley, of Sullivan, Ind.; Mrs. Grace Hickman and Leonard Pierce, of Green County; Roscoe Pierce, of Larue County; and Mrs. Eva Spratt, Miss Vercia Pierce and Goodson Pierce, of Taylor County. Two children preceded her to the grave. Mrs. Pierce united with the Otter Creek Baptist Church early in life, later moving her membership to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a member until death. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. T. McFarland, followed by burial in the Saloma Cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Pierce, Henry Griffin, Stanley, Edgar and Henry Skaggs, and Lewis and Dave Spetch. Mesdames Edna Collins, J. A. Taylor, Guy Davis, R. B. Hunt, Ben Rodgers, and Forest Colvin were flower girls.
