FUNERAL NOTICE PRINTED IN GALESBURG DAILY REGISTER MAIL--Oct. 7, 1942--Page 16: "James Sloan, 72, died at the St. Francis Hospital in Peoria Tuesday morning about 6:35 o'clock after an illness of several months. Mr. Sloan was taken to the hospital last week. He is survived by his wife, Lulu (German) Sloan; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Windish; three grand children, Donna, Jama and Larry; his son-in-law, Louie Windish, and one brother, H. A. Sloan of this city; also nieces and nephews. Mr. Sloan was a prominent farmer and stock raiser, residing on the home farm northwest of this city. For a number of years he had not found it necessary to do much labor, but managed his farms, and attended to business affairs which he enjoyed daily. The body was taken to the home Tuesday evening where friends may call, and funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in this city (Yates City). Burial will be in the local cemetery."
