Chris Christensen was born in Denmark September 25, 1859, and departed from this life at his home in Ruskin, Nebraska, May 19, 1944, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 19 days. He was married in Denmark to Marie Christensen and on May 10, 1883, came to America and settled near what is now Ruskin, with his wife and stepson. To this union were born two daughters: Mrs. Anna Hansen of Hardy who died in 1936, and Mrs. Mary Herring of Collbran, Colorado. In 1890 his wife Marie passed away.

On November 28, 1892, he was united in marriage to Karen Jensen and to this union were born three children. A son, William who died in infancy, and two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Sykes of Grand Island, and Mrs. Clara Krogh of Ruskin.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, three daughters, fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Mr. Christensen has resided in this community for more than sixty years, and during that time was always interested in the growth and development of this vicinity and ever ready to help a friend or neighbor.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Community church (sic), conducted by Rev. J.H. Petersen, and interment in the Ruskin cemetery.
