Alice married her third husband, John Quay, at Charleston, South Carolina. With her three young children, Alice moved to Abbeville where her husband was a merchant, and ran the Quay tavern, a stagecoach stopover and trading center.
Soon after Alice's death, her husband John Quay decided to leave upcountry South Carolina. He was remarried at Abbeville on 8 August 1797 to Hannah Brown, and moved to New Jersey. In 1798 he sold the Quay Tavern to James Wardlaw, who had recently married his stepdaughter, Hannah Clarke. The Wardlaw family owned the house for many years, and made additions and improvements to the home, which in 2017 was still standing in Abbeville and known as the Quay-Wardlaw House.
