Stephen Vandiver, 85, a Spokane Valley resident more than 40 years, died yesterday in a Spokane hospital. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include three sons, Leon, Spokane, Floyd, Mesa, Wash., and Vern, Spokane Valley; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Giedt, Medical Lake, Wash., Mrs. Eva Hood, Spokane, Mrs. Marjorie Rohde, Walla Walla, and Mrs. Verna Baxter, Spokane; a brother, Willis, San Francisco, Calif., and a sister, Eva Mussay of Missouri; and 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Thornhill Valley Funeral Home, the Rev. R.J. Batchelor officiating. Burial will follow in the Pines.
