She was born August 3, 1921 near Conway, Missouri, the daughter of John Martin and Sarah Margie (Essary) Hawk. She graduated from Conway High School in 1940.

On May 12, 1944, Martha married Deane R. Seaton from Abilene, Kansas, and lived in Springfield, Missouri until 1946 when they moved to Iola.

She worked for Armour and Company in Springfield and for the Gamble Store in Iola for several years.

Martha was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Iola.

She is survived by two sons, Robert D. Seaton and his wife, Christine of Show Low, Arizona, and Don D. Seaton of Howard, Kansas; three grandchildren, Laura, Eleanor, and Luke Seaton; two step-grandchildren, Britt Wright and Cody Runft, and two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Natalie Witt.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Deane, five sisters, Stella Gray, Della Eden, Annabell Bridgeford, Gladys Winkler and Inez Justus, and two brothers, James and Clarence Hawk.
