Alva William O'Dell, 86, of Bridgeport, retired lawn care/landscaper and a beloved husband, dad, granddad, great granddad, brother and uncle passed away March 22, 2012 at his home in Alvord, Texas.
Funeral service for Alva William O'Dell will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport, Texas with Reverend Terry Phillips and great nephew, Stephen Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove No. 3 Cemetery, Chico, Texas.
The family will receive family and friends 4-6 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Chapel Bridgeport, Texas.
Pallbearers will be nephews Gerry O'Dell, Ricky O'Dell, David O'Dell, Mike Knox, Jack Keller Jr. and Richard Keller. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Ronnie Knox and Jessie Loper.
Alva was born March 30, 1925 in Chico, Wise County, Texas to William Francis O'Dell and Bessie Beulah "Whetsell" O'Dell. He married Norma Luella Harclerode, daughter of William Howard Harclerode and Vera Mae "Keller" Harclerode on April 22, 1949 in Bridgeport, Texas. Alva was a lifelong resident of Wise County. He spent most of his life in Bridgeport before moving to Alvord.
Alva is survived by his wife of 63 years; daughters, Marilyn Lue Cross of Alvord, Texas and Gayla Ann Salani and husband Steven Robert Salani of Marquette, Michigan; Sons, Jerry Lynn O'Dell and Randy William O'Dell both of Alvord, Texas; Granddaughters Sherry Dawn Cross of Alvord, Texas; Chief Warrant Officer Two Norma Gayle Cross of Ft. Bliss, Texas; Laura Elaine Salani, Maria Nicole Salani and Sophia Renee Salani all of Marquette, Michigan. Grandson, Gary Lynn Cross of Austin, Texas.
