Ellis M. Chaney [Frostburg]

— FROSTBURG — Ellis M. Chaney, 93, of Frostburg, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at the Western Maryland Health System.
Born Oct. 19, 1917, in Avilton, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Linnie V. (Layman) Chaney. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters, and is the last of his immediate family.
Mr. Chaney was a retired auto and diesel mechanic from the Frostburg Auto Company and formerly worked at the Celanese Fibers Corp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, an usher and the oldest member of the Frostburg Church of the Brethren, the Farrady Post 24 American Legion, and worked to maintain and continue the Chaney family reunion.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Viola (Jackson) Chan-ey; one son, Marvin Ellis Chaney and wife Mary Beth, of Berlin; two grandchildren Kevin Douglas Chaney, of Severna Park and Lisa Suzanne (Chaney) Hodge, of Balston Lake, N.Y.; seven great-grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Christina, Bobby, Courtney, Aidan, Cohen and Lydia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Frostburg Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Mark Durst officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Route 40, west of Frostburg.
Military honors will be accorded at graveside.
