Donald F. Chaney, 87, of Frostburg, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at his home. Born on Juy 13, 1913, in Avilton, he was the son of the late Charles and Linnie (Layman) Chaney. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Blocher) Chaney. Mr. Chaney was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church and a United States Army Corporal of the combat engineers serving in England and Germany during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. He was employed by Celanese Corp., Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and retired from Frostburg State University. Surviving are his sister, Marguerite Blocher and husband Willard, Frostburg; one brother, Ellis Chaney and wife Viola, Frostburg; a brother-in-law, Philip Blocher and wife Betty, Fairplay, S.C., who have been great support to him throughout the years; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Members of Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside.
