He was born Sept. 25, 1935, in Sunflower, Miss., to James and Pankie Bailey.
He confessed his life to Christ at an early age. Henry was a faithful member of the North Avenue Baptist Church of Sycamore, where he served as an upstanding member.
He made a career as an outstanding roofer for 40 years in Illinois and Oakland, Calif.
Henry leaves to mourn his death two sisters, Dorthy (Pastor Gus) Walker of Iowa, and Mary Bailey of Sycamore; four daughters, Patricia Haslett of Chicago, Marshalyn Bailey and Sharon Bailey, both of Kentucky, and Stephanie Thames of California; one son, Brandon Bailey of California; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law and buddy, David Chapman of DeKalb; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, Anthony Thompson.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 Twombly Road, DeKalb. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
