He was born Feb. 20, 1938, to Peder and Marlene Pedersen, in Kalispel, Mont. He grew up in Puget Island, Wash., and attended Wahkiakum High School, where he was active in football, Future Farms of America and and 4-H.
He worked for Bob Hendrickson and Brusco Tug and Barge. Robert was the captain of Puget Island Ferry for many years. He was injured on the job and was forced to stop work. He attended Lower Columbia College as part of a retraining program..
Robert moved to Utah where he resided with his niece and nephews, Dave and Robyn Livingston. He was grateful for having the opportunity of working at Green's Concrete and then later at Penhall Company, where he was known as "Uncle Bob".
He enjoyed his travels to Mexico, sailing his boat "Oden's Toy" on the great Salt Lake and spent many hours working on cars and his MG. Robert was a die-hard Washington Huskies fan! His favorite pastime of all was attending his grandson's football games in Arizona over the last four years.
Robert is survived by a sister, Jan Silvestri; a son, Erik Pedersen; a daughter, Amber Kirby and her husband, Jason; a grandson, James Pedersen; three nieces, Kim, Jerry and Robyn; a nephew, Jimmy; and the mother of his grandson, Holly.
Friends and Family are welcome to send Robert on his final voyage to Valhalla at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grasseth Cemetery in Oak Point, Wash.
