Carl Unger, 94 who came to this county from Germany at the time Abraham Lincoln was shot in 1865, died Friday afternoon at the home, 1510 New York avenue. He had been living a retired life for several years. Death was due to infirmities of old age.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home in charge of Rev. Blaufuss, Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Unger was born in Germany in 1820 and at the age of 26 immigraged to america and located in this county. He was a miller and was employed at Shoto and later operated his own mill at Five Corners, near Branch. He was later employed in a mill at Rapids and for 22 years operated a farm at Four Corners.
Locatine in this city Mr. Unger was employed for several years at the Seating factory here before retiring.
Sixty-five years ago he was married to Miss Sophia Depons in the town of Kossuth.
Survivors are his widow; a son August; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Drumm and Mrs. Peter Jerzewsky; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of this city.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home until the hour of the funeral.
