Dr. Joseph Braden was the son of Joseph & Sarah (Wright) Braden (graves not yet found) and brother of Robert Braden and John Braden (both also buried in Catoctin). He was the first husband of Mary Neale, daughter of Fielding Neale and Catherine Beasley, who later married Isaac Vandevanter. Joseph & Mary had one son, Flavius Braden, born about 1810; died 1832 of cholera aboard a ship traveling to Natchez, Mississippi (grave not yet found).
